SSH’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides intensive care treatment, medicine, and support. ICUs are designed to treat patients with severe or life-threatening illnesses & injuries, which requires close monitoring, constant attention, and support from very advanced and specialized equipment and medications in order to ensure and maintain normal bodily functions. The ICU of SSH is staffed by highly trained doctors, seasoned critical care nurses and physician assistants who specialize in caring for critically ill patients. Patients may be transferred directly to the ICU from our Emergency Department or from a ward/room if their health conditions rapidly deteriorate or immediately after a surgery if required. ICUs generally have a higher medical staff-to-patient ratio and highly advanced medical resources.

At SSH, we provide exceptional and specialized personal care for every critical patient on 1:1 basis nursing service, supervised by trained ICU doctors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides cares for prematurely born babies (neonates) who are not fully developed and unable to survive on their own without the assistance of sophisticated equipment. Babies may also be admitted to the NICU if they had problems during delivery or developed a problem right after birth that requires specialized care.

The team of doctors in the NICU compromise of neonatologists, pediatricians, and OB/GYNs, as well nurses who specialize in neonatal care, including neonatal nurse practitioners, and technicians who help operate and maintain the equipment in the NICU.

DIALYSIS

The Nephrology Services team at Shilmoon Specialized Hospital provides the most advanced care in Bangladesh for patients in need of dialysis, including:

• Adult and teenage outpatients with end-stage renal disease

• People in need of training and assistance with home peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis.

Department of Nephrology at SSH provides consultation services in 1st Floor (OPD 3) through highly qualified and experienced consultants who are able to inform patients about the available treatment options and recommend the most effective treatment.

SSH’s Gynaecology & Obstetrics Department is dedicated to giving their best in terms of clinical support, proper guidance and healthcare for women in the treatment and management of gynaecologic and obstetric conditions – from routine care to complex high-risk situations. Our Obstetricians specialize in the surgical care of women and their children during pregnancy, delivery/childbirth and post-natal care while our Gynaecologists offer preventive reproductive health care and treat diseases. The department also deals with mammograms, pap smear, uterine or vaginal infections, fertility problems or contraception, tubal ligations and hysterectomies, and utilizes minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries and laser surgeries for the treatment of female reproductive organ issues. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art Maternity Unit, which has built-in labour OT, labour rooms and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). • The OPD of SSH is well-equipped and situated in an open space on the ground floor of the hospital to avoid unnecessary patient transfer and facilitate synchronization among the various medical specialties when needed. The Department of Ophthalmology of Shilmoon Specialized Hospital provides both basic and specialized eye care services for patients. Our highly trained and experienced consultants provides specialized treatment for a wide variety of eye problems. Specialized equipment such as the argon laser for treatment of diabetic eye diseases, and computerized visual field analyzers for assessment of glaucoma, are available. Our consultant are also trained in optometry and help to prescribe glasses for both adults and children. All surgeries are conducted at state-of-the-art operation theaters of the hospital, and over 90% of the surgeries do not require hospital admission. The theater is equipped with a phaco-emulsification machine for small incision cataract surgery as well.

The Medicine department provides a wide range of high quality cross-specialty health care services by our medicine specialist doctors, including physical examinations, preventive screenings and immunizations, urgent care for medical problems and conditions. When appropriate, patients are referred to surgical specialists for their proper treatment. Our Medicine doctors have broad-based training in Internal Medicine and in one or more sub-specialties.

The Pathology and Laboratory department of SSH has become one of the leading diagnostic laboratories in Bangladesh by virtue of its uniqueness in offering a wide range of tests, reliability and prompt turnaround time. We provide state-of-the-art reliable diagnostic services 24/7 for both inpatients and outpatients, general practitioners and other hospitals in the country. Our laboratories are fully equipped with the most advanced devices, apparatus and facilities for accurate diagnosis and reports.

POLICY ON OUTSIDE COLLECTED SAMPLES FOR LABORATORY TESTING

The following policies are strictly maintained for samples collected from outside patients for pathology laboratory tests :

Acceptable:

1. We will accept any sample collected by our phlebotomists on doctor’s advice/prescription.

2. We will accept any sample sent to our hospital from outside hospitals/clinics in correct sample tubes and with proper advice/prescription of a doctor or with proper laboratory requisition.

Unacceptable:

1. We will reject all samples collected outside in wrong tubes or any other sample that falls within the sample rejection criteria of the laboratory.

2. We will not accept any sample collected outside for testing for ‘Drugs of Abuse’ e.g. amphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, opiates etc.

3. We will not accept any sample coming to us without proper requisition or doctor’s advice/prescription.

The Radiology & Imaging Department of SSH provides high quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients alongside minimally invasive and interventional radiology procedures.

This department has extremely advanced and sensitive bio-medical equipment such as the 500 slice CT Scan, HD 3.0 Tesla MRI, HD 1.5 Tesla MRI, 2D & 3D/4D Ultrasonography with Colour Doppler facilities, Computed Radiology & Digital Mammography.

Our radiology team is made up of highly qualified and trained radiologists, certified technologists as well as support staff who strive to provide the highest level of personalized care to our patients.
